Apparently London will be hotter than Ibiza this year. Excited much? The last thing I want to do in the summer is use heated products on my hair to style. My hair is thick, frizzy and heats worst nightmare.

I thought I’d share a few products that I ALWAYS reach for.

Step 1) A frizz taming oil is a must, not just for summer but all year round…my hair had a long term relationship with John Frieda Frizz ease, however the formula became slightly heavy and soon after made my hair feel super greasy. I used a sample of Invisible oil by Bumble & Bumble and it was love at first use. It made my hair feel ultra-smooth and the formula is incredibly light weight – full review can be found  here. I use a couple drops of the oil on wet/damp hair, apply mid-length to the ends. It has UVA protection too, think SPF but for the hair. Perfect for summer days.

Step 2) Another Bumble & Bumble star – totally transforms my frizz ball, is the  Surf spray to give u that perfect beach wave tousled look. I have tried pretty much every drug store dupe there is and to be honest nothing beats B & B. Which is slightly heart breaking for my bank balance as its available for £21.50
Starting off with step 1) I then turn my hair upside down, spritz the surf spray into mid-length. It gives a ‘drying’ and ‘gritty’ effect without looking frizzy. Whenever I use this I avoid using a diffuser as on my hair it makes me slightly frizzy. I just let my hair air-dry. I’m left very loose/beach waves – very boho-esque. The downside to the Bumble and Bumble wonder product is that I go through one bottle super quick. (2months) Please tell me you know a cheaper alternative…

If I want more defined curls, I use the Alterna Bamboo Style range – Super Natural Cream – a brand that is really hard to track down. I know they’re stocked in Sephora but this particular one was brought from Amazon. It’s a sticky gel/cream hybrid texture. The smell is light and floral. I apply to damp hair on the ends and sleep with my hair damp. In the morning I have the best defined curls ever. If you don’t want/like to sleep with damp hair, the product works equally well with a diffuser on the lowest heat setting. Keeping it on the lowest heat setting. This dries the hair gently without over-drying it and creating a frizz.

I know that there are several other products that do same thing but on my thick, frizzy, untameable mane these have been superstars. If you use anything for your hair and it does wonders then do let me know in the comments.

I love kinky curly curling custard and shea moisture curl enhancing smoothie – both work well to cut down the dreaded frizz! I found doing the ‘curly girl’ method really helped me – I posted about it here http://vanityundone.co.uk/curly-hair-care-curly-girl-method/
