Zara is probably in the top 10 places I like to shop on the high-street. A lot of their pieces are very timeless and classic which means you get plenty of wear out of them and are made of an extremely high quality.

Now I’m one of those people that buy a bag, wear it with everything and anything. I’m not super precious with my handbags. I tend to chuck ‘em around, put it into a locker at work, on the floor in the tube, you get the jist of it. So buying a Chanel handbag (as gorgeous as they are!) just doesn’t seem practical or viable at this stage of my life… (Not to mention the extortionate price!) So I’m left on the lookout for a beautifully sculpted handbag which can be a staple piece in my wardrobe for the spring season.

I hate giving into hype because I feel that sometimes products just don’t match up to what everyone raves on about. However I had my eye on the Hourglass Ambient lighting powder’s for a long time but I waited out. For 2 reasons,

  • I like to think that I would apply a highlighter/face powder every morning – let’s be honest, I am too darn lazy…
  • I don’t think I need any more products (but that doesn’t really stop me so perhaps a not so good reason)

If you’ve been reading my blog you will be aware of my undying quest to find products with different textures and consistencies for blushers. It really is the one product which can make you look alive as if you’ve gone for a brisk walk out in the cold. So being the busy bee that I am, I apply my make-up before dawn – the mission is to ensure that it stays put through-out the entire day. Sound like mission impossible right? Well not anymore!

Topshop are really hitting outta the park with their makeup line. I have always been a fan of their nail polishes and lipsticks. I was slightly let down by their velvet matte lip cream – it was waay too drying, applied super patchy, just a massive let down by it especially with all the hype around it. Now my local Topshop have a tiny counter with bits and pieces so I normally need to venture out into the larger stores. Sort it out Topshop!

Nothing complicated here, just a simple hats off to this gorgeous shade. I was browsing in Boots – as you do – and was stood far too long at the Essie counter. There’s so many shades I often get overwhelmed. This is how my 5mins with Essie usually plans out… ” oh this is lovely…*picks a bottle up*…yeah I need this one too…*picks up another*….oh and I HAVE to have this”…*picks up a third*…aaand the pattern continues until I can’t physically hold any more! Luckily I usually have someone there to restrain me.

Mascara (along with concealer) is a product that I tend to wear consistently. I found that it really opens up the eyes. Also, I think it’s a product which requires little/no skill to apply, ha! I’m no make-up artists, just a crazy lady who loves buying make-up! But I feel that can apply mascara really well!

Fun fact, mascara was the first ever beauty product I brought myself.
Anywho  – after years and years of my mascara obsession I have accumulated a range of brands – tried and test them all – so without further ado I present you my best picks.

NB; you should really change your mascaras up every 3 months. Read more »

I’m assuming all girls who are beauty obsessed have one too many red nail polishes. I myself am no different. I have tried and tested an endless amount of shades to find the perfect red that matches my skin tone. I found that I much need prefer a shade with hints of orange to it. They seem to brighten up my olive complexion and give my hands an ‘ooooh, I’ve just come back holiday and I’m so tanned’ feel.
