I know I know it’s way too early to start thinking of summer colours, but I just couldn’t help myself when I saw a bpost on Lisa Eldridges’ blog. I absolutely love her, she creates the most flawless makeup looks and I read her blog religiously.
Recently she worked on the beautiful Kiera Knightley; the key look that stood out was the bright orange lips for the red carpet. I love a good bold lip however I always seem to shy away from Orange colours.
Lisa mainly used Chanel products as Kiera Knightley is the face of Chanel so it only fits the bill…and come on’ who doesn’t love a bit of Chanel? I’m a huge fan of the Allure Rouge Velvet Matte formula, saying that I’ve never tried the Allure Rouge version. Lisa mentions in her blog that she used a Chanel Lip-liner in Orange Intensity and Rouge Allure lipstick in the colour Incandescente #97. I’m not really a mahusive lip liner fan. But if it’s being used for a red carpet look its’ gotta be good.
Chanel Le Crayon Levres – #56 Orange Intense
Is a beautiful vivid orange shade, (as the name suggests) if we look at it in regards to features it’s actually a really cool lip pencil; it has a brush one end with a sharpener in the box too. On my lips it drags a little, I’m not sure if that’s due to the fact that I have super dry lips or whether that’s just the formula? Not sure on that one as it’s my first Chanel liner purchase – someone enlighten me. The pigmentation is amazing, an absolutely stunning orange shade, I love it. Once applied it does not budge, which is great if you’re looking for something that you don’t have to worry about smudging half way across your face.
Chanel Rouge Allure Incandescente #97
Now to give that matte lip some oomph, we have the Rouge Allure in Incandescente #97 – a gorgeous bright orange with a slight red tint to it. In some lights it can look more red and in others a bright orange. When I applied it on its own I didn’t love it as much as I did with the liner. It’s not necessary to use the Chanel liner; you could probably use any bright orange. It’s quite sheer I found but can be layered for a heavier finish. But these two are like peas in a pod. They’re fabulous together.
The lipstick is available from any Chanel counter £25.00 and the lip liner is £17.50, a pricey duo, but a little splurge every now and then is allowed right?
So, another purchase which was totes enabled by the wonderful Lisa Eldridge! This is definitely something I’ll be reaching out for this summer…I can’t wait! Now I just need to find me some spring staple lip products…suggestions please?
